First Impression: Stephen King’s IT (2017) Trailer

Welcome back gals and ghouls, to another week of Nightscrawlers! This week I wanted to do something a little bit different. I’m sure, if you’re a frequent reader, you’ve seen at least one of my “Honest Reviews” of horror movies. Today I want to do an Honest First Impression for the new trailer that was released for the remake of Stephen King’s IT. It’s not quite fair to do a full review until the film is out (which I promise I will do), but for the time being, here’s what I’m thinking so far.

In the last few weeks we were introduced to the first sneak peek of the 2017 remake of Stephen King’s IT, and social media is blowing up about it. I’ll be 100% honest with you guys and tell you that I’ve only seen the original IT movie once, because I am totally terrified of clowns. However, I did want to put in my two cents and let you guys know what I’m getting from this trailer and what I’m hoping for with this movie.

If you have yet to watch the trailer, please see it below:

As you can tell… this shit looks terrifying. I don’t remember the original IT seeming this scary right off the bat. That is obviously expected considering our idea of “scary” is much more intense than it was when the original was released back in 1990. However, a lot of the people who are criticizing this remake, are stating that it’s simply a different type of scary, which completely negates the true effect of the original film.

If you’ve seen the original IT film, you’ll know that it was not the same as today’s gruesome, genuinely scared for your life-esque horror films that we see today. It was almost as if the parts that scared you, were the parts of the film that happened only in your imagination. Although Tim Curry (the actor who portrayed Pennywise the clown in the 1990 film) left kids and adults alike shaking in their boots, the scariest part of the original Pennywise, was that he seemingly did nearly nothing for the majority of the film. He stood in the background and taunted us from afar.

In this new remake, Pennywise not only looks MUCH scarier and less like a traditional clown than the original, but he also has a lot more contact with the children in the story. Regardless, this shit is going to leave me with just as many nightmares as the original did.

I know this post was much shorter than most of my stories, and I have not posted in quite some time. For that, I am truly sorry. Life has taken over lately and I’m just now getting back into my regular schedule! But fear not! I am working on getting back to my weekly posts and keeping you guys up to date on the scariest, creepiest shit around. What kind of contact are you hoping to see coming up soon? Let me know by tweeting me @_Nightscrawlers and don’t forget to follow me on twitter and Instagram (@nightscrawlers)

Until next time… Keep it spooky!
